Not much time to blog.

So where am I after the last post?

The kitchen turned up a day late, and with many of the fixings missing. We followed the companies complaints procedure and are still waiting for the return phone call.

We decided to improvise in order to start fitting this kitchen. After all there was carpentry before the new bits and pieces that we are waiting for. So far we have three units up on the wall and all the floor units on one side of the room fitted to the walls. I say units , but they are just the basic structures, and no doors or shelves as yet.

We are in a serious mess here. Food and kitchen pieces are all over the house. I can't move or find anything. I didn't think we had so much stuff!

This week has gone so fast. I cannot believe it is Saturday already.

We had an appointment with a social worker on Wednesday afternoon, to see if Richard qualifiy's for their help and support. She had booked to see us at 4pm, but she called to rearrange the time to 3.45. I agreed without thinking.

When Richard comes home from school at 3.35 it is like a mad house here. Alexander is excited to have his big brother home, and Richard is trying all ways to run from him. Chaos in itself, so try to imagine what impact a stranger coming into the house will make.

Richard and Alexander go from excited to hyper in an instant, and to add to that, the dog, whom I forgot to lock away joins in with the fuss too! The poor social worker, who was not more than a young kid, and still training herself, did not know what hit her.

It is amazing to see how a young boy who is so controlled, calm, and not show any signs of autism in his own enviroment can change in an instant and show visable signs of autism. You have got to see it to believe it!

Well any how. He quallified for support, and will now join groups to help him socialize and interact. So I am pleased with that.

Yesterday we had a group therepy session, with the hospital to work on Richard's social skills. Richard is used to recieving therepy of one sort or another so that does not bother him. He is obsessed with time, and soon started counting down the minutes to the meeting. Thankfully the staff know how being a minute late ( or early) can affect children with autism, and she was bang on time!

It was nice for me to meet some parents and carer's too. We exchanged expieriences and the way the autism presented in our children. One of the mothers actually knew the area where we lived, and her father lived not far from Richard's school. Quite astonishing seeing as this session was so far away from home, and coverd so many other areas.

We also met another boy, whom we had met at another block of sessions locally. It turns out that he will be going to the same school Richard is going too in  September. That makes both me and the other mum a little happier.

Well it's time for coffee and toast now. Thank you for reading.

Can anyone find the kettle?!

Talk about having your hands full!  A lot of good news has come out of it, though.  It's great to hear that your son will be getting the support that will be so helpful for him.  Hey, I'm sure the kitchen "stuff" will all work out.  In the meantime, hunt down that coffee pot and make sure you keep it where you KNOW you'll find it.

Well, I guess the change in time worked out well after all!  I hope your kitchen gets put back together soon...I know how it is!
